Cultura y Bienestar, is a mental health prevention and early intervention program focused on promoting wellness and building individual and community resiliency to more effectively prevent and manage mental health challenges among Latinx and Indigenous residents of Alameda County. The program is a partnership lead fiscally and administratively by La Clínica de La Raza in close coordination and collaboration with its community partners La Familia Counseling Inc., and Tiburcio Vasquez Health Center. As a culturally, linguistically, and contextually rooted and relevant program, Cultura y Bienestar uses family-oriented, community-defined, and non-stigmatizing strategies to reach Latinx and Indigenous families in Alameda County. Our program recognizes that each individual and family possess great and exceptional strengths and protective qualities that if identified, supported, reaffirmed, and reinforced, can help build resilience, self-sufficiency, foster wellness and reduce the risk for serious mental health challenges.
